Speed Cameras

I just recently read an article by Zach Bowman. Apparently a judge in a very small town in Ohio has ruled against an ordinance that allowed the community of Elmwood Place to install speed cameras. The town of just 2000 people has already seen the cameras generate some $1.5 million in fines since they were installed last July! The judge stated, "It is a scam the motorist cannot win."

Preach it, preacher man!

Elmwood Place started handing out $105 citations shortly after the cameras were installed. Local residents acted accordingly, with many simply avoiding the area all together.

So what are your thoughts? With all of our local cameras around....do you feel motivated to comply with the city's decision? Are the funds generated by these traffic cameras more important to our society during these hard times or do you feel it is more a public safety issue?
